Which of the following is always absent in prokaryotic cells?

    A)  Ribosome

    B)  Mitochondria

    C)  DNA

    D)  Cell wall

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

A typical prokaryotic cell {i.e., bacterial cell) has cell wall just below the glycocalyx composed of peptidoglycan. They also have ribosomes and DNA just like eukaryotes. Out of the given options, prokaryotic cell does not have mitochondria to generate energy. They, instead generate few energy or ATP via glycolysis (when oxygen is available) and lactic acid fermentation (when oxygen is unavailable).
