What are the differences between crystalline and amorphous solids?

    Answer:

Differences between crystalline and amorphous solids are as follows:
      Crystalline solid Amorphous solid
    1. It has definite character- is tic geometrical shape. It has irregular shape.
     2. It has sharp melting point. It melts over a range of temperature.
    3. It has definite edges, faces and interfacial  angles. It has no definite edges. Faces or interfacial angles.
     4. It has long range ordered arrangement. It has short range order or no ordered arrangement.
    5. When cut with knife it split into two pieces  having smooth surface. When cut with knife they cut into two pieces with rough surfaces.
     6. These are anisotropic in nature i.e., same physical property is different in different directions. These are isotropic in nature i.e., same physical property is same in all the directions.
     7. Example: Sodium  chloride (NaCI). These are pseudo solids or super cooled liquids. Example: Plastic.
