    \[HCO_{3}^{-}\]is a Bronsted acid and also a Bronsted base. \[\underset{(Bronsted\,\,acid)}{\mathop{HCO_{3}^{-}}}\,\rightleftharpoons {{H}^{+}}+CO_{3}^{-}\] \[\underset{(Bronsted\,\,base)}{\mathop{HCO_{3}^{-}}}\,\rightleftharpoons {{H}^{+}}+{{H}_{2}}C{{O}_{3}}\] Being proton acceptor it is a Bronsted base and due to its proton donating capacity it is also a Bronsted acid.
