    Solution :

                    Dielectric constant   \[K=\frac{t}{t-d}\] \[\Rightarrow \]  \[2=\frac{1}{1-d}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[d=\frac{1}{2}mm\] So new distance \[=3+\frac{1}{2}=3.5mm\]
