From a balloon rising vertically upwards as \[5\text{ }m/s\]a stone is thrown up at 10 m/s relative to the balloon. Its velocity with respect to ground after \[2\text{ }s\]is (assume\[g=10\text{ }m/{{s}^{2}}\])

    A)  zero

    B)  \[5\text{ }m/s\]

    C)  \[10\text{ }m/s\]

    D)  \[20\text{ }m/s\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

From equation of motion, we have \[v=u+gt\] where v is final velocity, u the initial velocity, g the acceleration due to gravity and t the time. Taking downward direction negative \[u=10+5=15m/s,\,\,g=10m/{{s}^{2}},\,\,t=2s\] \[\therefore \] \[v=15-2\times 10=-5m/s\]
