    Which is extremely stable?

    A) \[N{{F}_{3}}\]

    B) \[NC{{l}_{3}}\]

    C) \[NB{{r}_{3}}\]

    D)  \[N{{H}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Nitrogen form trihalides of the formula\[N{{X}_{3}}\]. Among halides of nitrogen, \[N{{F}_{3}}\] is extremely stable due to strong \[N-F\] bond in\[N{{F}_{3}}\]. Small size of both nitrogen and fluorine atom causes strongness of \[N-F\] bond. \[NC{{l}_{3}}\] is explosive yellow oil \[NB{{r}_{3}}\] and \[N{{I}_{3}}\] are unstable compound and known only as ammonia complex\[e.q.,\,\,NB{{r}_{3}}\text{-}6N{{H}_{3}}\].
