    Solution :

     Rods consist of pigment rhodopsin which makes the animals to see in dark and produce black and white images. Cones have iodopsin (visual purple) which produces sharp coloured image in bright light. Rods and cones, the photoreceptor cells are the peculiarity of retina and present in the yellow spot of retina which is an area lateral to and above the blind spot (optic disc) where visual cells are absent and only optic nerve and blood vessels are found.
