If a plant is releasing carbon dioxide and taking in oxygen during the day, does it mean that there is no photosynthesis occurring? Justify your answer.

    Answer:

Release of CO2and intake of O2suggests that either photosynthesis is not taking place or its rate is too low. Normally during the day, CO2 generated during respiration is used up in photosynthesis, hence, there is no CO2liberates into the atmosphere, i.e., rate of photosynthesis is much more than the rate of respiration. Instead, oxygen release is the major event at this time.
