    Name the components of the formed elements in the blood and mention one major function of each of them. 

    Answer:

    The formed elements of the blood are erythrocytes, leucocytes and platelets and they constitute nearly 45% of the blood. Major Functions (i) Erythrocytes The erythrocytes or red blood cells play a significant role in transport of respiratory gases (O2 and CO2s). (ii) Leucocytes The leucocytes or white blood cells play an important role to fight against infections. (iii) Platelets Platelets or thrombocytes, are involve in the coagulation or clotting of blood. A reduction in their number can lead to clotting disorders, which will lead to excessive loss of blood from the body.
