Both unicellular and multi cellular organisms undergo mitosis. What are the differences, if any, observed in the process between the two?

    Answer:

In unicellular organisms, the type of cell division is known as amitosis in which somatic cell is divided into two parts directly. In multi cellular organisms occurs which is an indirect process. Both cell division in unicellular and multi cellular organisms undergo mitosis have differences as below
Cell Division in Unicellular Organism (Amitosis) Cell Division in Multi cellular Organism (Mitosis)
It is direct division of cellular and nuclear content. Without the formation of chromosomes. Different phases of cell divisions are not seen. Stage 1 Specialised proteins speed up change Stage 2 Nucluus divides. Stage 3 Cytoplasm divides having each of the two nuclei Division of acellular organism by amitosis Nucleus and cellular content do not divide directly and involves formation of chromosomes. It involves different phases of ceil division. Parent cell Prophase Metaphase Two daughter cells Anaphase Division of cell in multi cellular organism by mitosis
