Write the differences between (a) Actin and myosin (b) Red and white muscles (c) Pectoral and pelvic girdle

    Answer:

      (a)      Differences between Actin and Myosin
    S.N. Action Myosin
      1. 2.   3.     4.     These are thin filaments. Actin has low molecular weight filamentous protein, The thin filament also contain the contractile protein called tropomyosin. It is a rod-shaped fibrous protein.     These are thick filaments. Myosin has high molecular weight small globular proteins. Each myosin molecule also has two components, a tail and a head   It is a globular protein.
      (b)      Differences between Red and White Muscles
    S.N Red Muscles White Muscles
    1.     2.   3. In some muscles, myoglobin content is high, which gives a reddish colour to them, such muscles are called red muscles, These contain plenty of mitochondria.   These are called aerobic muscles. Some muscles possess very less quantity of myoglobin, so they appear whitish called as white muscles. These have less number of mitochondria but amount of sarcoplasmic reticulum is high. They depend on anaerobic process of energy.
      (c)       Differences between Pectoral and Pelvic Girdle
    S.N. Pectoral Girdle Pelvic Girdle
    1.   2.   3.   4.   5. It helps in the articulation of upper limbs,    limbs. It is situated in the pectoral region of the body. Each help of pectoral girdle is formed of a clavicle and a scapula, Scapula is a large triangular, flat bone and clavicle is a long slender bone. An expanded process, acromion from scapula forms a depression called glenoid cavity, which articulates with the head of humerus to form shoulder joint. It helps in the articulation of lower   It is situated in the pelvic region of the body. Pelvic girdle consists of two coxal bones. Each coxal bone is formed of three bones, ischium and pubis. Ilium, ischium and pubis fuse at a point to form a cavity called acetabulum to which the thigh bone articulates.
