Meena is a housewife. Besides taking care of household chores, she works in the cloth shop which is owned and operated by her husband. Can she be considered as a worker? Why?

    Answer:

Activities for the household done by women are not recognised as productive work and hence Meena cannot be considered as a worker here. Even, though she works in the cloth shop which Is owned and operated by her husband, she will not be considered as a worker according to the prevailing definition of work because she is not paid wages in cash or kind for this work this work done by her will add to her husband's income and lo the country's GDP, still she is not considered a worker which is wrong according to many economists who demand a change in the narrow definition of work.
