What is meant by monosporic development of female gametophyte?

Answer:

 Monosporic type of female gametophyte (embryo sac). In this case only one of the four megaspores takes part in the formation of embryo sac. Here, embryo sac is formed by three divisions of functional megaspore. The lowermost chalazal megaspore forms the embryo sac. Eight nuclei are formed in embryo sac, four at micropylar end and four at chalazal end. One nucleus from each shifts inwards to form two polar nuclei in the centre of embryo sac.
