12th Class English A Thing of Beauty - John Keats

  • question_answer 1)
List the things of beauty mentioned in the poem.

    Answer:

Keats begins the poem by saying that a beautiful thing is a source of everlasting pleasure. He says that it keeps us from being over whelmed by worldly concerns. Pleasure is our escape from reality. Beauty can have an everlasting effect on a person as well as an eternal 'existence' and cycle, slowly increasing in loveliness as time goes on.   The things of beauty that provide this happiness to the soul are the sun, the moon, a bower of trees, daffodils, and clear streams that help in getting respite in the hot season. There are also the mask-roses that flower in mid forest. The magnificence of the heroic tales also inspires us. These give us pleasure like an eternal fountain that is bestowed to us from the heaven.
