How did this experience affect him?

    Answer:

Several hours after he had recovered, he walked home. He felt weak and was trembling. He shook and cried when he lay on his bed and couldn’t eat that night. For days a haunting fear gripped his heart. The slightest exertion upset him, making him unsteady in the knees and sick to his stomach. He never went back to the pool. He feared water and avoided it whenever he could.
