What is your stance regarding the two endings to the Roger Skunk story?

In Jack's story about Roger Skunk, the wizard made Roger Skunk smell like roses; he found friends; but his mommy found the smell awful. She felt that a skunk should smell like one. So she took an umbrella and went back to the wizard and hit him right over the head. The wizard made Roger Skunk smell very bad again.   But, Jo was upset and wanted the wizard to hit mommy and let Roger Skunk smell good. She was sorry about him having to be humiliated by his friends.   I like the end of Jo's story: •             Poetic justice—good rewarded •             Tiny skunk was innocent so him being punished is unpalatable •             The skunk had found friends after a long time. •             Being isolated and humiliated is not good for a child's psyche •             Mommy needed to understand   I like the end of Jack's story •             The world is based on individual differences •             One has to be true to one's identity. •             Parents are a better judge of the situation •             Life has to be accepted in totality in all its colours
