12th Class Physics Electric Charges and Fields

  • question_answer 7)
    (a) An electrostatic field line is a continuous curve. That is, a field line cannot have sudden breaks. Why not? (b) Explain why two field lines never cross each other at any point?

    Answer:

    (a) An electrostatic field line starts from a positive charge and ends at a negative charge tangent to this line at any point represents the direction of the field at that point since electric field is continuous so the line has to be continuous. (b) Refer question no. 46.
