  • question_answer 23)
An electrical technician requires a capacitance of 2 F in a circuit across a potential difference of 1 kV. A large number of 1 F capacitors are available potential difference of not more than 400 V. Suggest a possible arrangement that requires the minimum number of capacitors.

    Answer:

    Let N capacitors be used in m rows when each row has n capacitor i. e. N = mn                 In series                 400 x n 103                 i.e., n = 2.5 i.e., 3                 In parallel                                 i.e.                 Total capacitance of m rows, Ceq = mC                 i.e.,                   Total Capacitors in = m x n = 6 x 3                 = 18 No.
