    Explain the difference between thermoplastic and thermosetting plastics.

    Answer:

                               
     Thermoplastic          Thermosetting plastics     
    (i) These are the plastics which get deformed easily on heating and can be moulded easily. (i) These are plastics which when moulded once cannot be softened by heating.
    (ii) These usually have linear structures. (ii) These have three dimensional structures.
    (iii) These are used for manufacturing toys, combs, containers, buckets, mugs, etc. (iii) These are used for making electric switches, handles of utensils kitchenwares, fire resistant fabrics, etc.
    (iv) Examples : Polythene, PVC. (iv) Examples :Bakelite, melamine.
