                          Write a short note on the different types of heterotrophic nutrition.

    Answer:

                      Heterotrophic nutrition is of the following types (i) Saprotrophic Nutrition In this mode of nutrition organisms obtain nutrients from dead and decaying organic matter, e.g., fungi, yeast and bacteria.                                          (1) (ii) Parasitic Nutrition It refers to the mode of obtaining nutrition from food synthesised by others. The organisms which obtain food is called parasite, while the organism from which food is absorbed is called as the host. e.g., Cuscuta (amarbel), Plasmodium, orchids, ticks, etc.                                                            (1) (iii) Holozoic Nutrition In this type of nutrition, organisms obtain complex organic matter in the form of solid food, digest it and then absorb the food into the cells and utilise it. e.g.. Amoeba, frog and human beings.         (1)
