well-droned soil is available which is rich in humus and organic matter.
It also required warm and moist, frost-free climate throughout the year. Another
specific requirement is the availability of abundant, cheap and skilled labour
force.
All these conditions are well avalable in North-Eastern
states of India. So, tea plaitation is concentrated in Asom, Darjeeling and
Jdpaigudi districts of West Bengal, Meghalaya, Tripura, etc but some tea
plantation also found in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh
etc.
Coffee production in India is dominated in the hill tracts
of Southern India, especially in Nihiri hills regions of Karnataka, Kerala and
Tamil Nadu.
But now coffee production has gradually leached Andhra
Pradesh Odisha and other North-eastern states. Coffee required high elevation
of 500 to 1800 m from sea level. Temperature required 18°C to 28° C, rainfall
of 125 cm to 250 cm and humus loamy, well drained soil is quite necessary. All
these geo-climatic conditions are found in Southern Indian hilly regions, so ,
