intermolecular hydrogen bonding is present in the molecules. In the carbonyl compounds,
only dipolar forces exist in the molecules It is therefore, quite obvious that
the attractive forces in carbonyl compounds are more than in alkanes and less
in comparison to alcohols. Thus justifies the trend in boiling point values in
