Gravitational force acts on all objects in proportion to their masses. Why then, a heavy object does not fall faster than a light object?                                                   [NCERT]

    Answer:

From Newton's law of gravitation where m = mass of object, = mass of earth, r = distance of object from centre of earth. According to Newton's second law of motion, acceleration of object, i.e., independent 01 mass of object. As acceleration is constant for all masses, hence heavier object does not fall faster.
