(i) In this system, combination of five or six fish species used in a
single pond. These fishes have different food habits and they do not compete
for food. As a result the food available in all parts of pond is used. e.g.,
catlas are surface feeders, rohu feeds in middle zones, mrigals and common
carps are bottom feeders and grass carps feeds on weeds. (2)
(ii) Main problem in such farming system is that many of
these fishes breeds only during monsoon and there is lack of good quality of
seed. To overcome this problem hormonal stimulation of fishes could be done,
which ensure the supply of pure fish seed in desired
