Answer:
Some gases such as carbon dioxide ,
methane , water vapours, chlorofluorocarbon,
(CFCs) etc., prevent the escape of heat from the Earth. Such gases in the
atmosphere would cause the average temperature to increase worldwide. This is
called Greenhouse Effect. An increase in the percentage of greenhouse gases leads
to global warming.
Causes of global warming are
(i) Gases such as carbon dioxide ,
methane , Ozone ,
nitrogen oxide chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)
are responsible for global warming.
(ii) Burning of fossil fuels in homes, industries and deforestation,
etc., increase the level of carbon dioxide and methane in atmosphere.
Effects of global warning are
(i) An increase in temperature leads to melting of polar ice
caps and consequent rise in sea levels.
(ii) Increase in temperature of Earth can cause change in weather
and precipitation patterns on the Earth.
