    Answer:

                      Functions of lysosomes (i) Lysosomes are a kind of waste disposal system of a cell. (ii) During starvation, lysosomes act on their own cellular organelles and digest them. This results in cell death. Thus, lysosomes are called suicidal bags. (iii) They help in the destruction of other foreign food materials.
