    Answer:

                      (i) River Godawari is called the 'Dakshin Ganga'. (ii) It is the largest peninsular river. (iii) It rises from the slopes of the Western Ghats in the Nasik district of Maharashtra. (iv) It is about 1,500 kms long and drains into the Bay of Bengal. (v) Its drainage basin is the largest among other peninsular rivers. (vi) The basin covers parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. (vii) The Godawari is joined by a number of tributaries like the Puma and Wardha, the Pranhita, the Manjra,  the Wainganga and the Penganga. (viii) Because of its length and the area it covers, it is known as 'Dakshin Ganga.'
