A horse continues to apply a force in order to move the cart with a constant speed. Explain why?

    Answer:

The cart will move with a constant speed if there is no external force applied on it. When a horse applies a force on the cart, frictional force acting between the wheels of the cart and the road opposes the motion of the cart. The cart will move with the constant speed only when the force applied by horse is equal to the force of friction.                                 (2)
