JEE Main & Advanced Physics Gravitation / गुरुत्वाकर्षण Question Bank Acceleration Due to Gravity

  • question_answer
Mass of moon is \[7.34\times {{10}^{22}}\]kg. If the acceleration due to gravity on the moon is \[1.4\,m/{{s}^{2}}\], the radius of the moon is             \[(G=6.667\times {{10}^{-11}}\,N{{m}^{2}}/k{{g}^{2}})\]            [AFMC 1998]

    A)             \[0.56\times {{10}^{4}}\,m\]

    B)               \[1.87\times {{10}^{6}}\,m\]

    C)             \[1.92\times {{10}^{6}}\,m\]

    D)               \[1.01\times {{10}^{8}}\,m\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

\[g=\frac{GM}{{{R}^{2}}}\]Þ \[R=\sqrt{\frac{GM}{g}}\] Substituting the above values we get \[R=1.87\times {{10}^{6}}m.\]
