Which of the following equations has x = 2 as a solution?

    A)  \[x+2=5\]

    B)  \[x-2=0\]

    C)  \[2x+1=0\]

    D)  \[x+3=6\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    (a) Putting x=2 in x+2 we get \[2+2=4\ne 5\]
    (a) Putting x=2 in x - 2 we get 2 - 2 = 0
    (c) Putting x=2 in 2x + 1 we get \[2\times 2+1=5\ne 0\]
    (d) Putting x=2 in x+3 we get \[2+3=5\ne 6\]
    Thus, the above conditions shows that x = 2 is the solution of x - 2 = 0 only.
