JEE Main & Advanced Mathematics Straight Line Question Bank Angle between two straight lines, Bisector of angle between two lines

  • question_answer
If the lines \[y=(2+\sqrt{3})x+4\] and \[y=kx+6\]are inclined at an angle \[{{60}^{o}}\]to each other, then the value of k will be

    A) 1

    B) 2

    C) 1

    D) 2

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

               \[\frac{k-(2+\sqrt{3})}{1+k(2+\sqrt{3})}=\sqrt{3}\] or \[k-2-\sqrt{3}=\sqrt{3}+k2\sqrt{3}+3k\],                    \[k=\frac{-2(1+\sqrt{3})}{2(1+\sqrt{3})}=-1\].
