A park is in the form of a rectangle\[120\text{ }m\times 100\text{ }m\]. In the centre of the park, there is a circular lawn as shown in the figure. The area of the park excluding the lawn is\[8700\text{ }{{m}^{2}}\]. Find the radius of the circular lawn. \[\left( Use\,\,\pi =\frac{22}{7} \right)\]

    A)  \[32.4\text{ }m\]

    B)  \[36.4\text{ }m\]

    C)         \[32.6\,m\]

    D)        \[39.4\text{ }m\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Let the radius of the circular lawn be r m, Area of the park \[=120\times 100=12000\text{ }{{m}^{2}}\] Area of the lawn \[=\pi \times {{r}^{2}}\] According to question,                         \[12000-\frac{22}{7}{{r}^{2}}=8700\] \[\Rightarrow \]            \[\frac{22}{7}{{r}^{2}}=12000-8700\Rightarrow {{r}^{2}}=3300\times \frac{7}{22}\] \[\Rightarrow \]            \[{{r}^{2}}=1050\,\,\,\Rightarrow \,\,r=\sqrt{1050}=32.40\,m\]
