If a sprinter takes 40 steps in 11 seconds. How many steps does he take in 55 seconds?

    A)  173

    B)         180

    C)  190

    D)  200

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

This is a direct proportionality problem. \[i.e.\] the more the time, the more steps will be taken by the sprinter. The solution can be obtained by taking proportions as \[\frac{40}{11}=\frac{x}{55}\]where \[x\] is the number of steps. \[\therefore \]\[x=\frac{40\times 55}{11}\]  \[=200\] steps.
