JEE Main & Advanced Physics Two Dimensional Motion Question Bank Assertion and Reason

  • question_answer
Assertion          :           The height attained by a projectile is twenty five percent of range, when projected for maximum range.             Reason            :           The height is independent of initial velocity of projectile.

    A)             If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)             If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Range will be maximum when \[\theta =45{}^\circ \] and in this condition \[R=4H\]Þ H\[=R/4\]              (always)              because \[R=4H\cot \theta \] and \[\theta =45{}^\circ \]             So maximum height is 25% of maximum range.             It does not depends upon the velocity of projection.
