Assertion          :           Water at the foot of the water fall is always at different temperature from that at the top. Reason            :           The potential energy of water at the top is converted into heat energy during falling.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)             If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

When the water is at the top of the fall it has potential energy mgh (where m is the mass of the water and h is the height of the fall). On falling, this potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, which further converted into heat energy and so temperature of water increases.
