  • question_answer
Assertion          :           Mass and energy are not conserved separately, but are conserved as a single entity called mass-energy. Reason            :           Mass and energy conservation can be obtained by Einstein equation for energy.

    A) If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)             If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

From Einstein equation \[E=m{{c}^{2}}\] it can be observed that if mass is conserved then only energy is conserved and vice versa. Thus, both cannot be treated separately.
