    D) If both the assertion and reason are false

    E) If the assertion is false but reason is true

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

The leaves surrounding the antheridial cluster are known as the perigonial leaves. They are closely set and spread out in the form of a rosette to form a shallow cup-like structure which affords protection to the antheridia and also acts as a splash cup. Associated with the antheridia in the cluster are numerous, green, sterile, hair-like filaments. They are multicellular and upright with large capitate heads and are called the paraphysis. Each paraphysis is usually 4 to 6 cells in height.
