  • question_answer
Assertion          :           If two objects of different masses have same momentum, the lighter body possess greater velocity. Reason            :           For all bodies momentum always remains same.

    A)             If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

    B)             If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

    C)             If assertion is true but reason is false.

    D)             If the assertion and reason both are false.

    E)             If assertion is false but reason is true.

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

According to definition of momentum             \[P=mv\]if P = constant then \[mv\]= constant or \[v\propto \frac{1}{m}.\]             As velocity is inversely proportional to mass, therefore lighter body possess greater velocity.
