10th Class Mathematics Probability Question Bank Case Based (MCQs) - Probability

  • question_answer
The probability that the ball dropped will fall either in pond or in patio, is:

    A) \[\frac{55}{224}\]

    B) \[\frac{11}{280}\]

    C) \[\frac{363}{1120}\]

    D) 1

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The probability that the ball dropped will fall either in the pond or the patio
    \[=\frac{\text{Area pond}+\text{Area of patio}}{\text{Total area of garden}}\]
Area of pond \[=\frac{22}{7}{{m}^{2}}\]and area of patio \[=\frac{275}{28}{{m}^{2}}\]         [Using parts [b] and (C)]
    \[\therefore \]  Required probability
    \[=\frac{\frac{22}{7}+\frac{275}{28}}{40}=\frac{\frac{88+275}{28}}{40}=\frac{\frac{363}{28}}{40}=\frac{363}{1120}\]
    So, Option [c] is correct.
