The simple interest on a sum of money is \[\frac{4}{9}\]of the principal. Find the rate percent and time, if both are numerically equal.

    A)  \[5\frac{2}{3}%,\] 5 years 8 months

    B)  \[7\frac{2}{3}%,\], 7 years 8 months

    C)  \[6\frac{2}{3}%,\] 6 years 8 months

    D)  \[6\frac{2}{3}%,\] 7 years 8 months

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Let principal be Rs. x, rate be n% and time be n years,                                   \[\therefore \] Simple interest \[=\frac{4}{9}\,x\] \[\Rightarrow \]            \[\frac{x\times n\times n}{100}=\frac{4}{9}\times x\] \[\Rightarrow \]            \[\frac{x\times {{n}^{2}}}{x}=\frac{4}{9}\times 100\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[{{n}^{2}}=\frac{400}{9}\Rightarrow n=\sqrt{\frac{400}{9}}=\frac{20}{3}=6\frac{2}{3}\] \[\therefore \] Time, \[n=6\frac{2}{3}\]years = 6 years 8 months  Rate \[=n%=6\frac{2}{3}%\]
