Della was standing before her class, ready to read    her home-assignment on ' Firelighters'. Her teacher gave her the nod and she began to read, "Firefighters have one of the most dangerous occupations. They risk their lives to save people and protect property from fires. They work for fire brigades and also help people in many kinds of non-fire emergencies. For example, they rescue people trapped in cars or trains after an accident.

Firefighters travel in fire brigades or special trucks that carry a pump and a hose for spraying water onto the fire and ladders to rescue people from buildings. They use different kinds of extinguishers to put out different kinds of fires.

I would like to be a firefighter when I grow up so that I may be able to help people.
