Narmada is a major west flowing river of the Peninsular India which flows in a rift valley between Vindhyachal Range in the north and Satpura Range in the south. Cauvery originates in the Western Ghats at Brahmagiri, flows towards the east through Kamataka into Tamil Nadu and forms a large delta at the Tamil Nadu coast. Damodar rises in the hills of Chotanagpur plateau and flows eastwards in a rift valley. Manjara is the only major right hand tributary of the Godavari. It originates from Jamkhed hills in central Maharashtra and joins Godavari near Kondalwadi.
