JEE Main & Advanced Physics Magnetic Effects of Current / करंट का चुंबकीय प्रभाव Question Bank Force and Torque on a Current Carrying Conductor

  • question_answer
A, B and C are parallel conductors of equal length carrying currents I, I and 2I respectively. Distance between A and B is x. Distance between B and C is also x. \[{{F}_{1}}\] is the force exerted by B on A and F2 is the force exerted by B on A choose the correct answer                            [Kerala PET 2001]

    A)            \[{{F}_{1}}=2{{F}_{2}}\]

    B)            \[{{F}_{2}}=2{{F}_{1}}\]

    C)            \[{{F}_{1}}={{F}_{2}}\]

    D)            \[{{F}_{1}}=-{{F}_{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

                       \[F=\frac{{{\mu }_{0}}}{4\pi }\frac{2{{i}_{1}}{{i}_{2}}}{a}\] \[{{F}_{1}}=\frac{{{\mu }_{0}}}{4\pi }=\frac{2{{i}^{2}}}{x}\]                  (Attraction) \[{{F}_{2}}=\frac{{{\mu }_{0}}}{4\pi }=\frac{2i\times 2i}{2x}=\frac{{{\mu }_{0}}}{4\pi }\frac{2{{i}^{2}}}{x}\]           (Repulsion) Thus \[{{F}_{1}}=-{{F}_{2}}\]
