If one angle of the parallelogram is \[16{}^\circ \] less than three times the smallest angle, then the largest angle of the parallelogram is

    A) \[131{}^\circ \]

    B)        \[136{}^\circ \]

    C) \[112{}^\circ \]

    D)        \[108{}^\circ \]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

     Let x and y be the largest and smallest angles of parallelogram. By hypothesis  \[x=3y-16\] Also in a parallelogram,                 \[x+y={{180}^{o}}\] or            \[(3y-16)+y={{180}^{o}}\] or            \[4y=196\] \[\therefore \]  \[y=49\] \[\therefore \]  \[x=49\times 3-16\]                 \[=147-16={{131}^{o}}\]
