    Reasons for the fast growth of textile and iron and steel industry in 18th century England were as follows:
    (i) A series of inventions like Spinning Jenny, Flying Shuttle, etc., in 18th century made each step of the production process of cotton very effective.
    (ii) These inventions enhanced the output per worker enabling each worker to produce more.
    (iii) Import of raw cotton from colonies, good transportation and communication, etc. helped in the growth of cotton and iron and steel industry. With the expansion of railways in England from 1840s and in the colonies from the 1860s the demand for iron and steel increased manifold.
