Deforestation has taken place on a large scale in the Amazon Rainforests.

    Answer:

In recent years there has been deforestation on a very large scale is the Amazon Basin. Shifting cultivation has posed a threat to the forests along with Oil and Gas exploration. Illegal logging along with ranching, mining and farming is also creating problems for the local people and the environment as well. This has disturbed the balance of the ecosystem. Deforestation is also taking place due to roads and railways being built to develop this region commercially. A large number of dams have been built in the basin to harness water resources but the reservoirs behind the dam flood large tracks of forested lands. Although these changes are planned for the betterment of the people, but the indigenous people look upon these changes as a threat to their identity and for the environment as well.
