The equation to the straight line passing through the points (4, ?5, ?2) and (?1, 5, 3) is [MP PET 2003]

    A)                                                               \[\frac{x-4}{1}=\frac{y+5}{-2}=\frac{z+2}{-1}\]

    B)                                                               \[\frac{x+1}{1}=\frac{y-5}{2}=\frac{z-3}{-1}\]

    C)                                                               \[\frac{x}{-1}=\frac{y}{5}=\frac{z}{3}\]

    D)                                                               \[\frac{x}{4}=\frac{y}{-5}=\frac{z}{-2}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

From \[\frac{x-{{x}_{1}}}{{{x}_{2}}-{{x}_{1}}}=\frac{y-{{y}_{1}}}{{{y}_{2}}-{{y}_{1}}}=\frac{z-{{z}_{1}}}{{{z}_{2}}-{{z}_{1}}}\],                 we get \[\frac{x-4}{1}=\frac{y+5}{-2}=\frac{z+2}{-1}\],                                                                       which is the required straight line.
