    Solution :

    (a) R                                                As \[\frac{P}{Q}=\frac{R}{S}\], so resistance of the galvanometer can be omitted (P and Q are in series = 2R, R and S are also in series = 2R). Now the equivalent resistance \[=\frac{2R\times 2R}{4R}=R\].
