A right prism has a triangular base whose sides are 13 cm, 20 cm and 21 cm. If the altitude of the prism is 9 cm, then its volume is [SSC CGL Tier II, 2015]

    A) \[1143\,c{{m}^{3}}\]

    B) \[1134\,c{{m}^{3}}\]

    C) \[1413\,c{{m}^{3}}\]

    D) \[1314\,c{{m}^{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    [c] Base area of the right prism                         \[=\sqrt{27\,(27-13)\,(27-20)\,(27-21)}\]             \[\therefore \]      \[S=\frac{13+20+21}{2}=27\]                         \[=\sqrt{27\times 14\times 7\times 6}\]                         \[=9\times 7\times 2=126\] Then volume of the right prism = Base area \[\times \] Height           \[=126\times 9\] \[=1134\,c{{m}^{3}}\]
