      Satyashodhak Samaj was a society established by Jyotirao Phule and its purpose is to liberate the Shudra and Untouchable castes from exploitation and oppression. Prarthana Samaj was founded by Atmaram Panduranga with the help of Keshav Chandra Sen in 1867. The Young Bengal movement was launched in Calcutta by a group of radical Bengali free thinkers, called Derozians. A young Anglo-Indian, Henry Louis Vivian Derozio was the leader and inspirer of this movement.
